The ultimate goal when using Auto Tack Mat is “behavior change” on the part of the rodent – persuading the rodent to leave and not come back!
With this goal in mind, it is advisable to pop the hood and check the engine regularly after a section of Auto Tack Mat has been installed. Look to see if the rodent has “moved” to a new area of the engine (not covered by Auto Tack Mat) based on where the rodent droppings or food scraps are located. If there is evidence of rodent occupation in a new location, clean that area and install another piece of Auto Tack Mat there.
Rodents are creatures of habit, but once they realize that your vehicle’s engine is inhospitable to their occupation, they will seek shelter elsewhere.
